The Wyoming Arts Council is holding its bi-annual Arts Summit in Cheyenne this year. Visual and performing artists from across the state will be attending the conference and the whole thing kicks-off with an Artwalk on Nov 7th from 5-8pm. My studio will be featuring work by fiber artist Do Palma. Do deals with a variety of subjects in her work including images that represent past and present social issues. Her powerful," Shadows of Conscious" series will be on display and Do will be present to talk about her work. Along with Do's pieces, I will be unveiling my latest project, "Crazy- A Contemporary Quilt about Fashion's Pressing Problems." "Crazy," challenges viewers to think about where and who makes their clothes and what happens to them when they are discarded. Viewers are encouraged to be apart of the project by adding embroidery to the piece while enjoying the fun of a sewing bee style stitch-in. Georgia will be in NY during the October 12th Artwalk but Dave will be in the studio to welcome guest and help you with questions and purchases. Thanks!
Its hard to believe summer is coming to an end and what a busy one it has been! After being gone for the past 3 Artwalks, I am looking forward to being in the studio for the September Cheyenne Artwalk. I will be featuring Dave's Rawhide Studio jewelry. He has several new designs fresh off the laser at the 307 Makerspace on the Wind River Reservation that you will want to see! Also I plan to be back in the studio this month to complete some of the small fiber art landscapes I started before the summer flurry began. See you at the Artwalk. Wanda J Sanders-Miller will be demonstrating her watercolor techniques during the May 9th Cheyenne Artwalk from 5-8pm. Wanda is the third artist to display in the PUMP series. Hope to see Thursday!
Georgia Rowswell's studio at Blue Door Arts will be featuring PUMP artist, Tara Pappas during the April 11th Cheyenne Artwalk from 5-8pm. Tara states "There are stories all around us—both those that have been told time and time again, and those that have yet to gain a voice. The focus of my artwork is on the latter." Tara is currently working on giving voice to her first illustrated children's book. She will be sharing the interesting way she is doing this through the Patreon crowd sourcing site and demonstrating how she creates her unique artwork. Blue Door Arts is located at 1608 Capitol Ave in the Historic Hynds building. See you there! Sawing, cutting, hammering and arranging elements all to tell a personal story. It was a beehive of activity at last weekend's Art box Assemblage workshop led by artist and gallery owner, Terry Kreuzer. Students got a chance to draw on her years of assemblage experience and techniques as they composed and completed their art boxes during the two day workshop intensive. Here is a peek into the process and projects. Several more exciting C.A.P. workshops are planned for the upcoming months. Be sure to check out the schedule and sign up today!
