"Since 1897, Cheyenne has celebrated its Old West roots with this eye-popping festival. The center piece of this Western celebration is the world’s largest outdoor rodeo, which draws top professionals who compete for more than $1 million in cash and prizes." website That's just a small part of what goes on in Cheyenne starting this Friday July 20th through the 29th. Blue Door Arts @theHynds will celebrate this important city wide event by extending their hours during Rodeo days from 11-6pm (closed Monday 22nd). Take a break from the rodeo grounds and visit Blue Door Arts @theHynds and see art inspired by the West
Although our jewelry show is still going strong ( come by and see the new wooden and metal bracelets by George Hoff of Rattlesnake Woods) we are getting excited about the next show opening during the June 14th Cheyenne Artwalk. Blue Door Arts will be showing the work of several talented furniture makers and woodworkers as well as a couple of awesome pieces from Cheyenne's Mid Mod store. Stay tuned as more work will be coming in this week! Shimmering silver, warm copper, colorful stones, translucent rawhide and funky found objects. Blue Door Arts will be showing the work of 6 talented artists who know how to transform these raw materials into pieces of fabulous artwork for the body! Join the artists for an opening reception during the Cheyenne Artwalk, Thursday May 10th from 5-8pm. The Artwalk Trolley, compliments of Visit Cheyenne, will be looping around the venues again this month. Grab your friends and enjoy the party atmosphere on the Trolley and enjoy a night of the arts in the city.
Terry Kruezer's Blue Shaman welcomed Thursday night's Artwalk tourists to Blue Door Arts! It was a delightful evening of sharing not only our art but also our hopes and dreams for the future of the arts in the city of Cheyenne. Reporter, Elyisa Conner of the Casper Star did a nice job reporting art happenings and hopes in her recent article.
If you missed the April Artwalk don't dispair! The next one will be May 10th from 5-8pm. Blue Door will have a new guest artist so stay tuned for details. If you want to know what we are up to for shows and classes, be sure to sign up for our newsletter. The sign is up, the show is hung, (my studio space is final clean), and Terry and I are ready to welcome you to our space tomorrow night from 5-8pm during the Cheyenne Artwalk! Our KGWN weather caster, Andrew Brightman, is promising us a high of 72 tomorrow! Its going to be a beautiful night for the tour. You can walk or take the Visit Cheyenne Trolley. Either way your going to have a great night of the arts in the city!
Hard to believe but the Cheyenne Artwalk is entering its eight year! Yes wow! April's tour will see some new additions like the Visit Cheyenne Trolley to take art tour goers around the tour and a new look to the website. Check it out and be sure to take advantage of the fun happening on the Trolley this Thursday, April 12th from 5-8pm! See you at the Blue Door!
Last weekend was studio move day. Bags of textiles, paint, rotary cutters, tools, and art, art, art! Luckily I only had to drag, roll, push and carry my studio contents across the hall from the old space in the Hynds building to the new one. I am still working on getting my space just right for optimal art making but things are coming along well.
Terry and I are also busy hanging our opening show highlighting the human figure. The show will open on April 12th from 5-8pm for the Cheyenne Artwalk. Our guest artist is my talented and supportive husband, Dave Rowswell. Dave has been interested in the figure since art school days and has run figure drawing classes in the past at our house and in the Hynds building. Be sure to stop in on the 12th to see our new space and the show. There will be an artist's reception (yes that means another cake experiment from me) and the event is free and open to the public. There are a number of renovation shows on TV these days including the Daddy of them All, This old House! For several weeks, Terry and I have found ourselves immersed in this Old Building project! Paint, plaster, sanding and muscle have all come together to transform the middle space of the Historic Hynds building into Blue Door Arts. Our goal is to show and create thoughtful, contemporary art as well as engage the community through workshops, artists talks and gallery openings. Please join us during the April 12th Cheyenne Artwalk from 5-8pm for our grand opening. We can't wait to share this new space with you, Georgia Rowswell |
